Preparation
- Find a quiet place free from distractions.
- Bible
- Bible Verses
- Pen and Paper
Reflection
- Reflect on who God is (Deuteronomy 7:9, John 1:1, Revelation 1:8).
- Who Christ Is (1John 2:1-2, John 1:1).
- Who the Holy Spirit Is (1Peter 2:9, Galatians 3:26, Ephesians 1:7).
Connection
- Praise the LORD for who He is and what He can do (Jeremiah 32:17).
- Thank the LORD for hearing and answering your prayer (Isaiah 65:24, James 5:16).
- Express your confidence in Him (Luke 1:45, Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:22)
- Acknowledge your inadequacy (Matthew 19:26).
Self Examination & Confession
- Ask the LORD to search your soul (Psalm 139:23-24).
- Confess any sin the LORD brings to mind (Psalm 32:5).
Visualize
- Bringing this lost one you are praying for to God (Mark 2:3-4).
- Remember you are standing in the gap for this lost soul (1 Timothy 2:1, Ephesians 6:18).
- This child is trapped in sin and unable to escape without God’s help (Colossians 1:13).
Listen
- Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how you should pray (Romans 8:26-27)
- Be still and listen (Psalm 46:10, Jeremiah 33:3).
- Don’t be anxious if you don’t sense anything specific. It is good practice to wait on the LORD.
Pray
Pray as the Spirit leads. It may be a scripture verse that comes to mind or a verse you have on hand. By inserting the name of the person you are praying for into the Bible verse, you are using God's word, which is a powerful weapon (Hebrews 4:12, Ephesians 6:16-17).
Document
Write down the verses you used, any impressions the LORD gave you, or reflections on your time with Him. If you are participating in the Labor of Love Event, complete the Prayer Summary. It doesn’t need to be lengthy, but it is important to be timely as families eagerly await to hear from their intercessor. If you are praying for your loved one it is helpful to journal your time with the LORD.
